Since it is very easy now days for a person to get their hands on technologies, the psychology field had to start dealing with issues like "internet dependency" or "cyber-dependency". Some people are lost in the virtual world and real world. People stay on the technology and it cause them to lose social ties and gain new ones but only online usually not person to person. There was a study done by Pew Internet and American Life Project in 2012 that claims in the United States the age group 16-24 average 50-60 text message a day. I believe that the numbers are higher than that, because as I look around my world I noticed that there are lots of teenage with phones and they are not very responsible at times. There is also the possibility that they can be posting comments on Facebook, using snap chats, replying to Twitter, or etc.

The younger group use much more technology than the older group of people because it is in some of kids mind they can't live without their phone, tablet, computer, play stations, and etc.
The usage of technology can be one of the effect that children aren't getting better grades. It can be a distraction to them when they are doing homework, or preparing for tests.
Can we teach children proper usage of technology in their life? The internet is all around us in today's society and if you don't have one you might be considered a left out. When kids are younger and they develop a tendency of staying on their technology for as long as they want they can easily become "attached"or addicted. There are no right age to give a children their first technology, no right ways to start out their technology usage (when parents aren't around to monitor).
The ways that can prepare a children to start their contact with technology is by telling them what it does, set time limits (make sure to take away if violate the rules), have open talks with them when need to, don't be the one that set bad example or give to them without thinking.

Is technology a problem or is it a bless?

In some point of a teenager's life or earlier they are going to be granted by their parents a phone. It has everything that a teenager wants within a click of an app away.

Technology can have a good influence on kids as some people claimed. The first condition is that we must teach younger kids what is appropriate when they are granted such a power. There are so many websites out there that it is almost impossible to count, and every site has different kind of information. The good influences of technology can be like social media it can help anyone catch up with their long distance friends or family members, it give students quick answers within a few seconds instead of going to a library to read many books, it can help the teacher to see their students' progress and can give immediate feed back, it can help students to contact one another about questions they might have, and more

There are also bad sides about having technology in classrooms, at home, outdoor, and more. The problem of technology in classroom is increasing because more children are getting technology at a younger age now. The technology in class can serve as a distraction for the students. There will be times where teachers have to ask their students to put away their phones, and if the student does not follow the rules then it will be taken away from them. Parents will be contact by the school to come and pick up their children's cell phone. The parents gave their kids phone in the first place, so they would expect to get it back right after they get home. When on phone children can encounter cyber-bullying, rude comments, and more. It increase the level of their anxiety and poor sleep pattern which lead to lower performance in school, communication with others, depression symptoms and more
There are still more good and bad being discovered by researches on technology. There could be situations that is out of control if children do not know how to handle themselves with it, or there could be good results because they are mature, and responsible.

Introduction

In this blog I wish to talk about whether technology is good or bad for youth. I chose this topic because in today's society we see our youth spending more and more times on their phones or any technology that they can get their hands on. I would see these girls walking down the hallway with their phones out and not even paying attention to each other. There are times where they are so focused on this other world they do not even realize where they are heading towards. The problem also happens in classrooms. When their phone vibrates, lights up, or rings they will either immediately pick it up and check who it is, or when they have a spare moment. It distract them from the lecture that the teacher is giving or the assignment they are giving to finish.
There is also another side to this story though. Technology can help us on many cases. When a teacher gives out a assignment and you do not understand the wording you can just Google it. When you are assign to find a article, instead of going into a library you can just find it online. It help you connect with your distant family members. It can take pictures, send/receive texts, call one another, and you can post things online to keep up to date.
There are good things and bad that is why I wish to understand more about which one will out weight the other.
